I am happy to see there is now a professional assisted reproduction clinic in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Too far for me to go for a spermdonation, but still better for people on the islands than having to go all the way to mainland Spain to have a child in their life.

The nail – Clever joke about insemination
A blonde city girl named Amy marries a Missouri farmer.
One morning, on his way out to check on the cows, the rancher says to Amy: ‘The insemination man is coming over to impregnate one of our cows today, so I drove a nail into the 2 by 4 just above where the cow’s stall is in the barn. Please show him where the cow is when he gets here, OK?’
The rancher leaves for the fields. After a while, the artificial insemination man arrives and knocks on the front door.
Amy takes him down to the barn. They walk along the row of cows, and when Amy sees the nail, she tells him, ‘This is the one right here.’
The man, assuming he is dealing with an airhead blonde, asks, ‘Tell me lady, ’cause I’m dying to know how would YOU know that this is the right cow to be bred?’
‘That’s simple,” she said, “by the nail that’s over its stall,’ she explains very confidently.
Laughing rudely at her, the man says, ‘And what, pray tell, is the nail for?’
The blonde turns to walk away and says sweetly over her shoulder, ‘I guess it’s to hang your pants on.’
New law in Sweden allows single women to be inseminated
According to a well known Swedish forum for people wanting children Sweden now allows single women to be inseminated.

This is great for single and gay women who now can benefit from the same possibilities as couples instead of using random men without previous health tests.

Chockerande – Spermabank ger medvetet dålig sperma
I Expressen läser jag att en Spermabank i Danmark Nordisk Cryobank misstänks ha skadat ett tiotal barn medvetet.
…banken bröt mot reglerna och lät bli att informera om att deras donator hade en allvarlig sjukdom. Det dröjde ett och ett halvt år innan informationen gick ut. Under den tiden blev ytterligare två kvinnor inseminerade. En av dem har i dag ett barn som är sjukt.
Katastrofalt! Jag blir så upprörd. Människor betalar ju dyrt för den extra tryggheten, men så finns den plötsligt inte. Artikeln nämner inget om skadestånd.

Brittish sperm donor charges £50 for insemination or as he calls it “magic potion”
- Simon Watson, 41, has been donating his sperm for 16 years
- He’s fathered hundreds of children, at a rate of one a week, he claims
- Mr Watson advertises sperm on Facebook and online sites for £50 a pot
- He said: ‘I give them a syringe with the pot, and then leave them to it’
Syringe, pot and “magic potion” for £50. Well. To be fair that is reasonable compared to £1500.
Personally I prefer to give based on donation.
